Burger N' Bite is a web game that was created and conceptualized for a group project in a animation and dynamic website class. The requested mandate was to create a web game playable on mobile and desktop, as well as provide a full Branding Package. A full set of instruction is provided within the game for every new player. This game is meant to reach a wide audience and tap into everyones inner child.
Because this project had many tasks, roles were distributed for each teamate. Two out of three of the creators were assigned to work on the back end of the game system while the third party was responsible for the creation of all illustrations. The same concept was used for the creation of the Branding Package, tasks were seperated between each teamates which made the entirety of the project much easier. We were allocated one month to create the game system, as well as the Branding Package.
Some of the main challenges for this project were directly related to the back end of the game system. A lot of initial ideas had to be changed or modified for the game to run smoothly. The intergration of new code and terminologies was an aditional challenge in the advancememt of this project.
A couple of challenges were met along the road for the illustrations as well. The most prominent one was to curate a color palette and to create unified graphics that authentically represented the game's identity.
A lot of reshearch was made before and during the process of creation. Referring to the internet and consulting each teammate, as well as our teacher's guide, was definitely a big help for the configuration of the back end system of our web game. Organization was also a key element for the development of this project and made each challenge slightly easier.
Completing a research on color theory and recycling elements throughout each graphic illustrations, such as highlights and outlines was very helpful for the creation of unity.
The first step of this project was to conceptualize and exchange ideas as a team until we all agreed on a vision. Once that was done, we decided to create a tree diagram to visually lay out all of our tasks in order to see what elements were required and in what order with their deadlines. We then equally seperated each section between each other and started the process of design.
The end result was very successful. We met the various criterias provided, all while delivering the project in the timeframe requested. Our ideas came together in unity which made the final design coherent. In addition, we found this project enjoyable as a team and got to learn from each other in the process.
For this project, organization and communication played a big role for the sucsses of BURGER N' BITE. At first glance, this project was intimidating but implementing those two elements made everything atteinable and less stressful. This is definitely something that will be carried for any future projects.
In short, this project was very useful and helped us get a closer look and feel into what can be asked for from a client. Multiple design elements were covered, such as coding, illustrations, branding, team work and deadlines. This project definitely helped preparing us to get one step closer to the graphic and web design industry.
